The heart of “War and Praise” ministry is to learn how to worship God in spirit and truth. The scriptures given are meant to motivate the individual to understand that God wants excellence and even perfection in worship with the foundation of grace to know that even our best isn’t good enough when done in our own strength. God has to be the focus and our heartbeat.

Worship is the most important thing to do in our lives. It is the language with which we express our love and relationship to God. In worship, we let God hear our cries and joys, surrender to Him and receive our marching orders and visions of His plans for us. Worship sets the tone for who we are as individuals as well as our contributions to the body of Christ and even the kingdom of God as a whole. Worship helps us focus on God and in turn everything else works. Focus on God in our lives is essential. Without a focus on God, our worship is hollow and empty.

Focus on God is highly important in worship. Worship services that aren’t focused on what the Holy Spirit wants are dry and could leave people wanting. Worship that is not guided by the Holy Spirit can lead to worship team members not giving their all or even quitting the team. However a worship team that is able to flow and move with the Spirit will literally lead people into salvation, deliverance, healing, and revival. Signs and wonders will be prevalent in that type of atmosphere. Vision and direction for the church body are able to be seen and heard. The whole atmosphere will be charged with His anointing.

God wants to pour out all that He has in store for us. Honestly we hold Him back. We are so good at putting God in a box. We must come to the point that we step into God’s plan and hold His hand as He leads us from glory to glory. He has so many wonderful and amazing things to show us if we can just stop controlling our lives and the lives around us. Let’s throw our hand up in surrender and listen to His whisper. His ways are much higher than ours. His love is much stronger than ours. We will live a miraculous life if our focus and vision gets redirected from what we can do to the Lord and who He is and what He has done. Psalms 46:10 in the NASB says, “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

When we worship, things begin to happen in the atmosphere around us. Our own emotions can come into alignment with God. Our vision gets clearer. We start to see things from His perspective. Worship is more than singing a pretty song or a catchy lyric. It’s more than the coolest lick on a guitar or drum. Worship is intimate. It’s giving our hearts to the King who created us.

Psalms 22:3 says, “Yet You are holy, O You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.” (NASB)

Kings sit on thrones. From that throne kings make decrees, laws, hear requests, makes judgements, pardons and gives mercy and death sentences. When Jesus came into Jerusalem riding on the colt of a donkey, the people worshiped Him. This entrance was altogether different from every other time He came into town to go into the temple. With Jesus being God, Son Of God and man, He was placed on His throne with the people’s praise. This is recorded in the New Testament as Matthew describes Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem.

Matthew 21 is the account where Jesus acts much different than any other time in His life. We see that Jesus is being praised as He comes into town. Jesus has been in many temples all of His life. All of the elders and people that heard Jesus speak were astonish at His teachings. Some scriptures say that people looked at Jesus differently than all the other teachers because He taught with authority. With that being the normal thought among the people about Jesus pales in comparison to this account where Jesus is worshiped.

Jesus then assumed the power as a king that He truly is. As He entered the temple everything was different. In verses 12 and 13 we see Jesus taking His kingly authority and removing those who were using God’s Temple for personal gain and not as a place to meet God. Once the Temple was clean, Jesus displayed the mercy of a king in healing the lame and blind. He entered as King over all and acted in the authority that a King is given and set everyone straight.
